I now have a icd my doctor want to put in a crt with a third lead. Does anyone have an idea if they can use the two existing leads and just add the third or will they have to be pulled and replaced.

I would ask and will if I get the chance. I have made a sudden drop in ef and am not scheduled to see him until the procedure. the leads are only 5 years old. From my further research I think they probably will be able to. unless as you say they go to another manufacture. Thanks again for your input,
Uh....I really think ........

....you should be talking to the Cardio before they roll you into the ER. These things should be known to you Pre-op.

...to use the existing leads.
That being said, let's confirm we are talking about the same abbreviations:
ICD = Implantable Cardio Defibrillator
CRT = Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy (as opposed to Cathode Ray Tube )
Depending on the age of the leads, and the manufacturer, they should be compatible W/ the CRT device. That assumes that he will implant a CRT-D, since you have the D part already. Also that he will use a new device by the same manufacturer.
Why not just ask the Cardio?
