Pain from old leads

Almost six months since my new pacemaker and leads were implanted on the right side and the site has healed really well. Not much pain at all. However the old pacemaker leads on the left side which have been implanted for 25 years are causing severe sharp pains. I have good movement in my left arm and shoulder so can't understand why the pain. The pacemaker clinic say it must be muscular. What should I do about it? Thanks for any advice given.

Pain

I would like to be helpful, but it is really difficult to know what is going on based upon your description of the problem.
For how long have you been having the pains? Is it constant, occasional???
In any case, if it has been an ongoing problem and it continues, then you must push the issue with your doc or see a different doc.
I would think that if you are getting pains that they would only be local (i.e. a capped lead poking against your skin).
If the problem continues, I have to think that the doc would want an x-ray. ????

Good luck, I hope you get relief!

I have had the pain since having the pacemaker implanted. It is not constant but occasional. I think I will ask my gp as I don't see a consultant at the pacemaker clinic only a technician and my next appointment is a year away. Thanks for your reply Dave

Good idea

I do think it is a good idea to see another doc, but not sure if a GP is best. I guess it is a good place to start. You know, it doesn't make any sense that the old leads could be a source of pain. However, anything is possible.
Again,
Good luck!
