First check up

I've just had my first checkup at the hospital. They said all is going well and my pacemaker is doing it's job. They said the top was 41% and the bottom was 1%. It wasn't until I came out that I thought what does that mean. Help anyone. They said to stay off work until I can lift my arm properly as being a primary school teacher I need full movement. So I've booked a doctor's appointment to get signed off for a couple more weeks. Still feel tired all the time so resting as much as possible.

Cryptic Remark

Sue: Most likely it means that your Atrial chambers are paced 41% of the time & your Ventricular chambers are paced 1% of the time.

You did not ever tell us WHY you have the PM, so we cannot put that into proper perspective.

Sounds like you have a case of Sick Sinus Syndrome (SSS).

Why I had my pacemaker fitted

by Sue125 - 2015-09-10 12:09:04

I had my pacemaker fitted on the 5th August. I was at home and felt like I was going to be sick. I went into the bathroom and the next thing I knew I was coming round on the bathroom floor. I was taken to hospital as my heart rate was very low. At hospital my heart stopped beating for 20 seconds. This happened a few times. I was transferred to Barts hospital in London and the next morning I was fitted with a pacemaker. A total shock as I didn't have any periods of blacking out of feeling unwell.
