"Wareable verdict
So what have we learned from talking to the experts of heart rate tech? Well firstly, if youâre serious about your sport and data today, then steer clear of the wrist monitor. Itâs a great way for entry level runners and fitness fans to take control of their plans, but for those using the data to train, itâs not up to task.
And while runners may one day be able to use optical tech for training sessions, when lag times and algorithms improve, for gym bunnies and HIIT fans, it looks unlikely that the wrist will ever be a serious option.
But there does seem to be a light at the end of the tunnel. Our experts agreed that the ear is going to become a key place for future sensors, and itâs a place weâre already comfortable with placing tech. Hearables here we come."
This one is more technical, but very interesting.

Just an observation

As many people are obsessed about measuring various numbers, there will be a never-ending supply of technical gizmos to cater for those obsessions.
I have always believed that " How you feel" is far more important than any numbers. Interestingly, I have been a member of a running club for 30 years and know some fine marathon runners and triathletes, none of them use any sort of HR monitors unless they are really into " boys' toys "
I get the impression that many people who have pacemakers think it is necessary to continually measure heart rates, blood pressure etc. It really isn't I.M.H.O.
I'm sure there will be a market for these optical sensor devices but you can be very serious about sport and not bother with them at all.
Cheers
