Hi! I'm new here and glad to find this group. I've had my pacer since 09. At each of my last 4 pacer checks, my % of usage is rapidly increasing. Six months ago I was at 55%, now I'm at 66% upper and 5% lower. The tech doing the check had no idea why. I'm a vet and get all of my care through the VA...and they suck. Anyone have any idea why my % keeps going up?? Thanks.

From 50 to 100

I've gone from pacing 50% of the time when I got my (second) PM in 08 to 100% now. My natural pace has fallen to less than 40 BPM. My PM minimum is set for 60 BPM. I'm also heard that your heart gets lazier over time as the PM does more of the work.

I am 100% pacemaker dependant and have been all my life. I try not to think about how a little metal box keeps me alive - it would drive me crazy. So I lead a very active life.

Try not to stress over the numbers too much! It's not uncommon for the heart to get a little lazier with time. The pm automatically steps in and fixes it. There is no good or bad pacing percentage, as long as you feel good you are pacing the right amount.
