hey peoples!

Blake, you could go ahead and send me that extra $50 from the photo album ;) lol jk
So, where to start….? Oh, I guess from the beginning.
I think I told you about the surgery I had last month? Everything was okay after that (except feeling a lot of pain on the incision site….not to mention feeling like a piece of paper with the staples they placed on the incision). But, my sister kindly offered to help out by using her staple remover she purchased at an office supply store….in which I departed to the comfort of my parents immediately. Lol jk
I have been in and out of ERs/hospitals since my last post. I had to be on antibiotics for my infection on my incision (that’s one thing I don’t want to relive). It doesn’t seem to be getting worse, so that’s good.
But, the meds I’m on wiped out my “good bacteria” so I’m catching everything under the sky….no wait…bed? No,…moon…..or is it sun? ;)
Anyway, I’ve been having fevers and so they’re tackling this now so it wont get any worse. I seemed to have aggravated the incision due to my throwing up (pardon me if that’s more than you needed to know, lol).
But, as long as they re-hydrate me with IV fluids and antibiotics, I don’t have to be admitted (b/c the treatment works quickly).
My PM is now adjusted (since the surgery threw it out of whack). But, the cardiac meds + the infections=asthma flare ups. I had to go to get treated right away last week b/c I had an asthma attack. Its usually not that bad and is easily fixed with a breathing treatment, but I just needed a bit more help I guess.
I plan to talk with my doc…..hey, that rhymes! “talk” “doc”
Where was I? Oh yes, I plan to ask my EP what beta blockers have as little effect on asthma patients. But I was wondering if any of you have some similar experience and what meds you’re on. That way, I can mention it to him.
Wow, this is a long winded post isn’t it? Lucky you. Haha
Oh, but one more important thing: thank you all so much for your prayers/concerns. It’s amazing how this site is so strong in every aspect. Not many other health forum or clubs have this type of camaraderie, and I cherish that always.
Take care,
~valerie
P.S. Did you hear about the optometrist who fell into a lens grinder and made a spectacle of himself?

Woo hoo! A post from Valerie! Are we the luckiest people or what?! It sure sounds like you've been through your fair share lately. Glad to hear you are on the mend. But you must still be a bit delirious as "talk" and "doc" do not rhyme. :)~

I'll be sending you good vibes. Hope to see you around again soon. We would hate for the photo album to get up and running and not have a picture of you looking ravishing from your bed (you know, with the crazy hair and throw up bucket near)!

Miss you!

Hi Valerie, Pacergirl here.... My goodness we have missed you. So glad to hear you are home. Sad to hear about the issues with the infection. I love the joke about the optometrist! Here is one for you!.....
What does a gingerbread man make his bed with?...... Cookie sheets!!!!!!!!!! lol! This is my favorite joke at this time of year.
Welcome back and my prayers are for a quick recovery for you!

Hey Girl,
I'm so glad your feeling a little better. I knew something was up when I got one text message from you and then know more. Glad your getting enough energy to make jokes once again. Remember sleeping is ok and sitting and watching your George Clooney movies are just fine. Take care of yourself and thanks for the update.
Miss ya!

Valerie/Vitamin C

by The Bunny - 2007-10-19 12:10:31

Hi Valerie, Wow, it sounds like you've been through a whole lot! Hang in there girl! From reading your post, you've definitely kept a sense of humor, which I believe is a major part of recovery!

I wanted to mention that my dr turned me on to vitamin C. It boosts your immune system. He told me when your down, to take 2000 mg per day. I buy Emergen-C. It's a fizzy drink mix. It comes in a box with about 3 dozen little packets. You mix with water, rasie your glass and say "Cheers to my good health!" :) It's 1000 mg Vitamin C, 32 Mineral Complexes & B Vitamins. There's Rasperry, Lemon-Lime, Tangerine and other flavors. You can get them at the health food store or even your local drug store--check the vitamin section. It makes a difference in my life--I feel better and rarely get colds, etc.

I hope a continued recovery for you! My favorite, an oldie but a goodie...What do you do in an elephant's stomach? You run around until you get pooped out! lol :)
Get some rest!
