Need lead repositioning

I had a Medtronics pacemaker/defibulator/synchronizer implanted June 2015. After getting up the next day from the hospital bed I felt an internal thumping or hiccup. The technicians and doctor tested all of the signal points and determined to turn off this part and let the lead settle. In September I was tested and the final signal point tried did not give me any thumping. I was happy. Now, in March 2016 I had a couple of days of returned thumping. I went in earlier this week to be tested and it was determined that the lead would have to be relocated. It seems that it has moved and the signal points that don't have thumps did not hit the correct chamber of my heart for correct synchronization. They turned that part off and I am slated to have it relocated in 2 weeks. Anybody have any insight on this type of issue?

The lead to be repositioned is the synchronizer.

It depends...

...which lead is affected but most likely they will cap that lead off and replace it with another one if they can't reposition it.

There are 2 synchronizer leads

One in the LV (left ventricle) and one in the RV (right ventricle). The RV lead also has the defibrillator wire within it.

The third lead is in the atria (upper chamber).

Your doctor will determine the best approach. Try not to worry too much. Easier said then done, I know.

I went in to have one lead repositioned, but ended up having two leads replaced. Now, at home two days later, I cannot believe how good I feel! I have zip, that I haven't had after the first implantation. Comments welcome.

I had a lead replacement 3 weeks ago which was done under a general anaesthetic (this was because lead removals can be trickier than the first placement). The procedure went well but I am still bruised and sore. The fact that it is being done in the OR means there will be lots of expertise to ensure things go well rather than making you feel more anxious. Impossible not to feel anxious, I agree.

I wasn't really self-conscious about it. I didn't even know I had one until around six or seven years old. I just thought I had a rock in my side.
