Became a blackbelt despite my pacemaker !

I recently became a blackbelt in taekwondo. I believe the first black belt with a pacemaker !!The instructor always reminds the students to not make contact with me or they will face lots of push up. So far nobody has gotten them. I am also in warfarin and yes , have been bruised by accident. Never the less I really enjoy it so I encourage those who want to take a martials to speak with the instructor and ask how they feel about having a student with a pacemaker in their class.

Congratulations on both the black belt and not letting the pacer keep you from doing what you want to do!

Well done

That is fantastic! I have an orange belt in karate and that was long before my pacemaker, and that was an achievement. You motivated me to consider taking classes again.

In the UK, I am quite certain that with my PM (3+ years ago) the accompanying information referred to a protective shielde for people participating in contact sports. Worth looking into

Nice to read

Prior my PM implant July 2015 for SSS, I was for 3 years training Yee Tao martial art, very similar to kickbox.
After PM implant I had break till end of January. On Jan. 29. I started to train again. Beginning was little weird but I got use to that and now I am going 2-3x a week. of course I do not to much sparring, if I do I select my sparing partners.
But otherwise feels good and definitely it is nice to hear/read that I am not the only one with PM who trains martial art :)

A pacemaker suddenly quitting is no more likely to happen than you are to be struck by lightening.
