Hi I am a new member
I have a dual lead pacemaker. Years ago o was told the atrial lead was not working 100 percent, but as I felt ok they would leave it. Now I have been told that it seems like the atrial lead is just sensing Does anyone know what this means.Thankyou

If your atrial lead is just " sensing " it means that the tiny sensor / electrode at the end of the lead is measuring the voltage produced by the heart every time it contracts but it is then not acting on the information
It should be "pacing" as well as "sensing" i.e it should be sending a small electric charge down the lead to put in extra beats if required. So your atrial lead is only doing half its job at the moment.
A lead should sense and pace.
Hope you get it sorted out soon
Ian

One lead senses and relays the info to the PM's "brain" . The PM then sends a signal to the second lead .. my take .. Please do not allow the medical "profession" get away with quick answers to pointed questions .. get it in writing and in detail ..make them work a little .. they charge enough !
