Wireless Remote Monitoring
Hi,
I have a st Jude ICD, today I received the remote monitor. I'm struggling to connect the monitor, a couple of questions:
- I have a phone jack in my bedroom which I use for broadband, only (no phone) by using the splitter can I use the same jack or will the router interfere with the remote monitor?
- is there a way to connect the monitor wirelessly to my broadband & download the data that way?
I'm in the UK.

UK Phone system

I don't know the details of UK phone systems or what kind of broadband service that you have.
No matter what kind of system that you have a "splitter" will not work.
However, if you have DSL and still have dialup working, even if you don't use it, then it will work with a Filter.
A DSL filter is much different from a splitter. But, the DSL filters are often mistaking called filters. If what you have has a connect labeled DSL and then another labeled Phone then it Might work.
If it does not work St Jude does have an adapter available that allows it to work with cellar signals.

I have a wireless remote system Boston Scientific. My remote unit sits by my bedside and sends reports at 3am every day to my specialists by the mobile phone system. This does not run through my mobile phone just runs like anyone else's mobile phones does through the airwaves. I did not have to plug into any phone socket on the electricity. It works as every month I get a text message back stating that all is OK.

I was recently given a St Jude remote monitor with a wireless USB connector. This works perfectly. Ask you local monitoring team about getting you one. They have been around for a while.

The Merlin monitor is making a phone call to transmit the report. You could try connecting a phone to the bedroom jack using the splitter. If you can successfully make a phone call out, It is seems as though your Merlin will be able to call out. Another option would be to turn your router off at night since the Merlin only transmits late at night when you are in bed. There is also a phone number in your instruction booklet to call with questions. You could ask if you can hook your Merlin up and send a test report in and ask them to verify receipt of the transmission. There should be an instructional disc in your Merlin package that might help explain some of the functions of your Merlin. Let is know how you make out.
