Hello, My 88 year old mother had a dual chamber pacemaker implanted 4 weeks ago. I do not know the make and model yet but I will. She is happy and doing well and that's a blessing I wont forget. But she mentions to me that if she places her hand over the pacemaker she can fell that it is warm. Not warm like it bothers her but just warm. She even says she likes it when sleeping because she can warm her hands. All I said to her was to inform her doctor during her next visit and see if this is normal. I have also asked my sister who goes with Mom to insure the question is asked. I then joined this club to ask and research myself. Any information will be greatly appreciated. Mom lives three states away. Thank you for taking the time to read my post. Take care, Daniel

watch for signs of infection

There's really no reason for it to be warmer than the rest of her body. It could be that the increased circulation means she feels warmer. Just keep an eye on her and make sure nothing else is off. Signs of infection would include new swelling, redness, streaking, fever.

..... reveals that this has been discussed before. Don't know if any of the links below help.

A pacemaker completely solved my problem. In fact, it was implanted just 7 weeks ago and I ran a race today, placed first in my age group.

It should not be any warmer than the rest of her body. I am just wondering if what she feels may be associated with healing. It should still be slightly sore to the touch. Is there someone nearby that can check it for her. Surely, someone else could feel it and should be able to tell if it is her imagination or for real. If not, then she should have the doc check it as planned. It is also a good idea to check to insure it is not swollen or red as this could be a sign of infection. There is no reason to think that is a problem, but just a good idea to check. It doesn't seem like there is any reason for concern as long as she feels O.K.
