I got up this morning to walk on the treadmill to motivate myself to loose weight because I am obese. When I was done I went decided to go past my sons house to do a little cleaning and wash some clothes, but as I was climbing the steps to his apartment I had to stop at the 3 landing of steps to catch my breath and all of a sudden I felt this pain in my chest that felt like a bomb had exploded. I am curious what that is. I have a pace maker and a difibulator implant. Could this possibly been my device going off?
Any help will do.
Thank You Pat

Could it have been a heart attack?

Just having a PM doesn't make us immune from them of course. I think I would urgently check with your doc, maybe going to an Emergency Department now as they can detect more in the time immediately after an event.
It's possible the device kicked in

Sounds like an episode where the ICD has kicked in, but I'd check with your heart clinic to be on the safe side.

Hi, Ellen
I hope by now you have sought medical care. It is scary enough when we know what is happening, but so much more so when we do not. Please learn all you can about your device and any limitations of your specific case. I admire your independent and can do attitude, but you may need to pace yourself a bit. Take care and let us know how you are doing.

You know you're wired when...
You have a maintenance schedule just like your car.

You need to be seen asap. Odds are you just overdid it, but ANY chest pain should always be treated as an emergency. Better safe than sorry.
