Pacemaker box

Two weeks down the line and the box is standing out from my chest and not going down.  Went to see cardiologist and he said that it can be placed under muscle in chest, anyone else had problems

It took almost a month for mine to settle in and look like my neighbors pacemaker scar.  She, and now, I, just have a line where it was inserted.  I could not believe how much it poked out at first!  I thought it was a mistake!  I can easily feel it, but it went from a huge oblong lump to a flat scar pretty quickly after a few weeks.  That's just swelling and stuff at first.

under muscle

Had my pacemaker placed 3-30-16.  Can totally see it.  Went to doctor last week, recommends I have it placed under my muscle.  He couldn't do it when placed.  Will have a heart surgeon try.  Also has to move bottom lead - to close to diaphragm - get thumping in side.  So will have to go through it all over again.....ugh!

PM placement

Received my PM April 8, 2016.  Because of my slim build, 170 lbs, 6ft 2", my PM does still show.  It took about 3 weeks for the scar swelling to disappear.  After 4 months the scar is flat but is noticeable.  The PM is slightly noticeable.  I can definitely feel the PM when I pass my hand over the area.

I still  occasionally have a few minor aches in the area of the PM.  PM rep said this is nerve endings healing and may last up to a year.  I think the ache is arthritic.  Exercise helps the aches.

None of this is terrible especially considering how much better I feel since receiving my PM.

I love this new part of me, and very, very thankful that this technology exists and I know that it's all only going to get better over time.
