Implant pain after chest work outs - 6 years after implantation

I have not posted in AGES. Serioulsy I walked away and haven't checked in here for a long time. Sorry.

I want to know if anyone can give me some advice. I am trying to get into better shape. I'm 6 years post implantation, I'm a 41 year old woman and I'm overweight. I'm doing yoga, and weights liek shoulder presses and bicep curls etc.

Today I have considerable pain around my pacemaker, but not on the other side.

How do you deal with this? Does it get better? This is enough pain that I wince when I move...

Thanks

BdB

It sounds like you aggravated the scar tissue, btdt. It's painful but not dangerous. Ice should help. If something doesn't feel right, back off and try it again in a week. I found that I could work up to most exercises. Don't let this discourgage you!!!! You should be able to do anything you want, just take your time getting there.

Don't worry!

Feeling that pain isn't dangerous. It's just uncomfortable. But, if you are worried, than take it slow and build it up! Don't start so big. Even if you want to move forward, hurting yourself can't help. Good luck!

Balanced Program

Weight loss is helped by using a balanced program between strengthing, aerobic and stretching activities, and healthy eating habits.  I had the most success losing weight when I was an avid and regular bicycle rider.  That activity easily burned calories, strengthened my legs and it was emotionally refreshing to get out and enjoy the countryside. I was an avid runner, but as I got older,  I found that bicycling is much easier on knee, foot and hip joints. I am 75 and do some light weight lifting, but it is always important to remember to stretch out afterward.  As Tracy said, you are probably just stretching the scar tissue.  It helps to have an exercise partner that will encourage you to keep going, even on those days you don't feel like exercising.  It also helps to vary your routine.  Best wishes.

I will keep working out- THANK YOU for all the information!

Facebook group

I created a facebook group with regards to pacemakers/ICD's and yoga practices.

I actually found a yoga therapist (I am a teacher) who had a very vigorous practice of yoga including arm balances, weight bearing poses behind the back, and she pulled out her leads from her practice.

My daughtered modeled some modifications for yoga poses with those of us with chest challenges.

Hope this helps!
