Hello all - I am a highland games athlete getting a PM in mid September. I am trying to find some guidance on how long before I can lift heavy. I normally do the norm of squats, deads, etc and in off season do a fair amount of strongman training for fun so pushing a truck, pulling one in a harness, sledge hammer slams, farmer's walk, tire flip, and so on.
Any guidance on that? Thanks in advance

I have had my pacer for about three weeks. I was told lift nothing heavier than a gallon of milk for about 60 days. Do not raise your pacer side arm higher than the shoulder. Hard exercising for the first 60 days is out. The hardest thing for me to remember is keeping my arm below the shoulder.

Thanks All - I appreciate the advice and guidance. I am going to bring videos of me training for the Doc to place the device. it sounds like 6-8 weeks before I can start working out much and then ease into it until it feels comfortable.

I have an ICD which is both a pacer/defib. I have no problems with mine and it has saved my life.
Six weeks

They normally say to allow six weeks for the lead(s) to be securely anchored into the heart - lifting your arm above your head runs the risk of pulling them out.
However, have you told your surgeon of your activities? Do make sure they know,as it may affect where they implant the device for such strenuous workouts.
