Running 1/2 marathons now 8 months post surgery

I completed the Edmonton 1/2 marathon this weekend.  It was the same race I did for 5 years prior to my pacemaker. I was 11 minutes slower but that's ok I getting myself trained back up for a better run next race. I ran one in March and wasn't quite ready yet so I was way slower on that one. So I'm improving by about 8 minutes each race, which is huge!  So don't worry for those who like to exercise it really does come back with time.

Love hearing this! Please post pictures in the gallery.

I'm doing my first half in Feb. My daughter conned me into it, I am soooo not a runner.

Thanks for the hope!

Dear Lisa:  Wow!  You give me such hope.  I've been off my run (couldn't even walk fast at first) after my implant.  Now I've got the ticker well programmed and I have to work at getting back in shape.  Only ran 1.3 mi today :( but hey, better than 0.0 which has been my average for the last MONTH!!  Did it take a lot of work to program it right? -Ann

Hi AnninAz. It took about 3 months of running to get it sorted out to where I was comfortable all the time. There are still a few days that can be rough if I let myself get too tired or especially dehydrated. I get super amounts of palpations when I'm dehydrated even a little. So hydration is my first priority every day.

All the best to you let me know hoy you make out and send me s message if you have any questions at all.

I love this new part of me, and very, very thankful that this technology exists and I know that it's all only going to get better over time.
