Dancing with a PM

by Jagd - 2016-09-20 16:58:34

Hi Sona,

Just got my pacemaker on Sept 1,  I also love to dance and cannot wait to get back dancing,  I have been told to wait 6 weeks before I raise my hand over my head,  I am walking 4 mi every other day.  Unless you have other complications, you have no reason to not be dancing..  Dancing will take your mind off your pacemaker.  Get out and have fun and soon you will forget you even have the PM.

Good luck and happy dancing.

Let's boogie!

Hey, I still go to a night club for a good dance sometimes, and I'm over 50!

As AngrySparrow says, its a good form of exercise and no reason you shouldn't continue to enjoy it.  I like technology, and think of my pacemaker as just another gadget.

Exercise n dance

Hi,

I was 33 when i had my first PM inplanted for bradycardia and blocks, i dont think it helps they sent us home with the manual with pictures of elderly people, and people always tell me 'ah my grandad had one of those', i totally understand how you feel but if your like me i was so ill for a year it took me 5 different doctors to realise i needed to see to cardiac specialist, i can honestly say PM is the best thing to happem to me, my outlooks very different now, lifes to short to be worrying about work, i can now walk around with out fainting. I'm a totally exercise junky duathlons, road cycling etc, as long as your dr says its fine go back to dancing a enjoy every min your blessed to be alive, for the first year i had an issue about my scar and how its wierd to have a PM at my age! One of my male friends said if he started dated a women with one he'd be intriqued and in Awe! We're the cool kids ;-) x

I can understand how you feel. I'm 30 and had mine put in in July. Put what I've learned is to back to watch you enjoy and live your life. We had a 2nd chance and we need to use it!  I wish you luck and much dancing!

Everything will be fine

Dear Sona,

i got my PM implanted (due SSS-low pulse), I was 31, in July 2015, it took me like 7-8 months to realize that my life is pretty much the same as when I though I was healthy. I do every single activity I did before, it means I do martial arts, I go to gym 3-4x week, I work around house, in garden, I bicycle, swim, party and so on. So do not worry with small and confident steps you will return to regular life and life will be great :)

i receivecd my pm April 13 and was worried about exercising and running. i was released to full physical activity after 10 weeks. when i started running again substantial fitness was lost. But patience and consistency have me running 4-5 times per week 4-6 miles each day. You will be fine and better than before.

Don't give up!

I am not that old either (not 24 tho) and I just got my pacemaker.  It took me some time to get the programming right so I could do exercise, but I think it's working now. Don't give up!  If you find you can't do something; make sure you check with ur dr and the pacemaker settings.  You really should be able to go back to life as normal!

Cheers, -Ann

You know you're wired when...

Your pacemaker receives radio frequencies.
