Hello I am new to this club having just had my first pacemaker implanted. One of my interests is metal detecting for gold , I use a Pulse Induction type metal detector which is very good for finding gold in the highly mineralised ground close to my home. Have any other members had experience with the use of metal detectors and their pacemaker?
Mineab the manufacturer wont comment in any way. My pacemaker technitian said that she will check my detector if i bring it to next check up.

Metal Detector

Howdy, GoodDog is correct. The way your metal detector is designed, the fields penetrate the ground and slightly forward of the head. Unless you point your detector directly over your pacemaker you should not have a problem. The manufacturer of your metal detector, will probably not commit itself,to saying it is safe. Due to liability concerns.
Happy Prospecting.

You know you're wired when...
You fondly named your implanted buddy.

My eight year old son had a pacemaker since he was 6 months old. He does very well, plays soccer, baseball, and rides his bike. I am so glad he is not ashamed of his pacemaker. He will proudly show his "battery" to anyone.
Not to worry

There is little chance that it will have any effect on your PM.
