If your doctor said 6 weeks, then wait 6 weeks! That's a standard amount of time recommended to take it easy. The shooting itself isn't the problem, it's raising the arm.

...conservative on shotguns, especially whenn they have the bore of a small cannon!

1) What side is your device on?  You told us NOTHING to really help.  Pls fill out your bio sketch.  IF the device is on the shoulder side where you place the butt of your gun, you have problems.

2)  A round of trap or skeet involves a full box of 25 shells.  For someone a mere 6 weeks out from surgery, that's a lot of heavy shocks against the shoulder post surgery.  Most shooters don't go out & do just one round - so you are getting up to 50 - 100 rounds in an afternoon.

3)  I took a jeep Cherokee in the opposite shoulder at 35 mph, through a door post about 9 weeks post op.  My Cardio was concerned about the leads being torn loose.  No sweat, they both, including the new one, survived quite nicely.  I developed a minor aneurysm from the shock of being hit, but the PM survived quite nicely, thank you!

4)  My point is:  I survived it  just fine, but it was beyomd my control to become involved in an auto accident.  You have the rest of your life to shoot down clay pigeons, invest another 6 weeks in letting that procedure fully heal.  Balance the fun of shooting early against the probability of requiring that they go into your heart again to repair damage.
