I am having PM inplanted next week.  After recovery, is it okay to do military presses with dumbells?

Also, do I need to inform doctor that I am moderate runner so that he can adjust PM settings?

talk to your doctor

If they know you are active, they can place it so that it doesn't get in the way when you are active. Settings are personalizesd and will be adjusted later, depending why you need it, some models may be a better choice for running. Be sure you are very clear with your doctor up front, and specify what you plan to do after.

Presses and other stuff

Like Tracy said. Some PM’s are better than others, if you are very active. My EP gave me a Biotronik Evia DR-T. He said he has marathoners that use it. I am very active and have had no issues with it. It took about three or four adjustments to get it just right. I do not do a lot of running anymore, because of bad knees and some arthritis.  But, I do a lot of biking, spin classes, long distance kayaking, 10-15 miles, play tennis, coach soccer and do many other activities. I also lift weights and do presses with dumbbells. I had a little trouble at first. My doc said, if it hurts slack off. He also said to reduce the weight and do more reps until things settle down. No problems now.

Good luck!

My ICD/pacer is not a burden. I still play tennis and golf.
