Stairs

10 days out and back to exercising. Feeling good except short of breath on stairs so that I have to stop after about 15 steps. Walking about 15 min. I was walking several miles before pm and bounding up stairs.

Pm was needed due to fainting. No muscle disease. All diagnostics such as echo, X-ray were normal a week ago.

Is this just being out of shape?

Settings may need adjustment

If you were walking several miles and "bounding" up stairs, then you'd be 'in shape'.

Make sure you let your EP know how you are feeling, it can take some time to get everything tuned up to where your device is doing you the most good.

Yes, probably settings

I get out of breath with stairs too and sometimes just bending over.  It's been like that for a few years now.  Otherwise, I do not have shortness of breath when exercising.  For me, my concern is if they adjust the setting, then I would have a problem with just walking or exercising so I just deal with going up stairs and SOB.

From your other post, you may have some other things going on so it's probably best to get that sorted out first before they change any settings.  Take it a step at a time.

Good luck to you.

Recovering

I am also 10 days out from my surgery and still feeling exhausted. Just remember that any type of surgery is an insult on the body. You are still recovering from the surgery, as I am too.

I plan to work with a personal trainer in a week or two to get back on track. My trainer is associated with the hospital, so is aware of what types of exercises a person can do with heart issues.

Go easy on yourself. Recovery can be a slow process but you will get back your energy in time.

Thanks

I was checked out Monday and everything looks good. Knowing it is deconditioning is helpful. Back to work today and it went well. Thanks for your comments and encouragement!
