Bigeminy trigeminy

ICD inserted Sept 2016 after a VT storm. Set for 50 bpm. Also had sick sinus (45bpm).  Pulse is regualr until it gets to around 80. From there up to about 120, it is in some from of irregularity (bigemin, trigeminy quadrigmeiny) and also missing beats every 9 or 10 beats.

As the pulse comes down from 120-130 during exercise, the irregualtires kick in and then disappear at around 70-80 bpm where regualr beats resume. Anyone know why this might be? Meds are amiodarone 200mg and Metoprolol plus a magnesium supplement.

o hi there. Not sure if I can help or not but noticed when I read your post that you are taking amiodarone.

in my case before I had pacemaker implant I was prescribed amiodarone for bad a.fib. What eventually happened however was after many hospital visits it was found after a blood test that the amiodarone had damaged the thyroid gland, which was affecting heart's ability to pump properly.

so, maybe it would be worth while to ask for thyroid check? I have also since read that no-one should be on amiodarone long term.

This is more of a response to the previous comment, if you are on amiodarone you should be receiving regular blood work, once every 3-6 months. I've been on it since late July with a gradual reduction and will be reevaluated in December.

But usually they come when I am relaxing after doing quite a bit of work.  I generally get them, and they can be bi, tri or quad, while sitting on the couch in the evening.  Have recorded them with Kardia and shared with my Cardiologist.  He calls them "benign," I call them annoying!!

They started after I quit taking a BetaBlocker.  The Beta Blocker was slowing me down so much I couldn't get anything done!
