Implanted with a Medtronic Adapta 2012. Finally persuaded them to turn off the Rate Response a few days ago.
Finding it hard to tell if there is much difference, my heart rate still seems higher than pre implantation, so I thought I would try the biker's trick. I sat for a while to let my h.r. settle at 70 ( using a pulse oximeter ), then I thumped my chest rapidly near the P.M site. My pulse went up to 94 and dropped when I stopped. Just in case it was the exertion of the thumping that caused the rise I repeated the whole thing but this time my wife provided the thumps. Same result.
PM report shows AAIR<=>DDDR > AAI<=>DDD.
Is there an explanation for my pulse rise? Am I being paranoid? After agreeing to my request could they switch off Rate Response, print the report and then switch back again, or it simply hasn't changed.

DDD means RR is off, perhaps the exertion of thumping your chest got your rate up?
I would expect your rate to be higher than before you were paced. That's kind of the point?

Rate Response

They did shut your Rate Response off.
Your report shows the Rate Response was on in the first set of letters signified by the letter "R" in the fourth position.....then it was changed > to Rate Response turned off....that's why it does not show the letter "R" in the second set of letters.
So your heart rate is rising on it's own.
