Snowboarding..

Hi everyone. I'm 5 days post op and am wondering if there is anyone out there who can put my mind to rest about snowboarding. I know I cannot snowboard anytime soon but just wondered are there people out there who still snowboard with pacemakers! Please get in touch if you are! I need a morale boost...will be so sad if I have to give it up!! Thank you

Once you're past 4-6 weeks, have at it! Full contact sports aren't recommended (tho there are some who do it anyway!) but other than that, anything goes. I don't board, but I ski, hike, do ropes courses, kayak, love Crossfit so regularly use barbells, pull ups, push ups, running. My doc might roll his eyes occasionally but he never tells me to slow down.

You'll probably find that once you heal and your settings are fine tuned, your stamina is better than ever!

Healing

After healing you should be able to do any snowboarding activity I can think of. If someone tells you otherwise they are likely wrong.

Thank you

I have had my device for a little over a year now and just this last winter I took up snowboarding with no issues! Once everything heals you will hardly notice you have it snowboarding is no problem.

Go for it ..

I've had my pacemaker for 2 years now and live in a small ski resort so I am always skiing. Last weekend I thought I would try snowboarding with my husband and young daughter. I ended up crashing and landed on the pacemaker fairly hard.  My GP was on call so he checked it out within 15 minutes of it happening (EKG And checkup) and everything was ok. I found it reassuring that the pacemaker is so robust. I'm sticking to skiing and leaving the snowboarding to the experts and that has nothing to do with the pacemaker.... So go for it!!!!!!
