Pacemaker VS Fire Alarm

Hi all! I had my pacemaker put in last week, and noticed that the fire alarm in my house upstairs went off now twice when I went near It! This particular fire alarm is even with my face as I have a low ceiling upstairs, and is also the only one that has ever gone off. I know it is possible for a person with a pacemaker to set off store alarms, but now I'm wondering could my pacemaker also be setting off my fire alarm? I do not go upstairs often, but it had never gone off before I got my pm. Or maybe battery is just dying on the alarm? Thank you!!

Have someone replace the fire alarm battery and then try walking past it again.

Anything is possible.  Let us know the results.

The reason a shop's security systems might pick up a pacemaker (though it has never happened to me) is because their systems emit a magnetic field which might pick up the electrical device in your body. Unless you are smoking a particularly rough cigarette or cigar as you pass a fire alarm, which typically detect smoke and ions, it will be coincidence or a loose connection/battery issue.

Thank you!

Thank You! I've put a new battery in the alarm after a 3rd ear piercing siren! Now I play the waiting game to see if that is the culprit.

You know you're wired when...

You always run anti-virus software.
