Hi fellow ICD implantees. Hade my ICD 2 weeks ago, my only concern is that where the incision was made and the ICD implanted feels VERY lumpy and bumpy under the skin, is this normal?

IT WILL SMOOTH OVER SOME

It will smooth over a lot just give it time. Your incision is not even fully healed yet.

It takes awhile for the swelling to go down. Mine was lumpy for awhile too, but now has smoothed out.

Hi, Ozzie

Yes, do not fiddle with the site.  However, if the site exhibits or should exhibit redness (including streaking), warmth, oozing, pain and/or you have fever, contact your medical care immediately.  The above indicate an infection.  As your site heals, you may feel some not so familiar sensations.  You may feel itching, pulling, tingling, etc..  Feel free to ask questions.  We all have them. Take care.

Hands of likely good advice

Had first PM implanted 3 weeks ago so clearly I'm relying on more experienced voices.  However, the surgeon did make it pretty clearly it will take while before the incision area assumes it's "final" appearance.  Lots of variable, of course, but primarily age and general health (diabetes, etc).

Hopefulheart's recommendation about signs of infection are well aimed, of course!
