Blister in incision scar

I had pacemaker surgery about 3 months ago and developed a sort of blister on the end of the scar about a month ago. My PCP saw it about 2 weeks ago and said it was just damaged and not infected. My cardiologist saw it last week and said it would pop on it's own and to keep it dry. It did pop but I forgot to cover it once and it stung really bad when it got wet. I have a prescription for mupirocin which I've been applying but it's leaking a little from the small hole and is very itchy and somewhat sore.

I just wanted to know if anyone here has had a pocket infection?

Infection

Look at the photos I posted in the Members gallery. One looks like your description. Of a pimple at the end of incision. This was first sign of nasty infection that cost me 6 months out of my life.

Hope it doesn't happen to you

You have a hole that is leaking fluid after 3 months? That is not good. As others have said, until the wound is comptetely healed, it is an open door to infection of the heart. The surgeon who implanted your pacemaker needs to know. You need attention now.

If you have not already done so, call the surgeon. If you don't get immediate attention, go to the ER. Politely insist on a culture.
