Hi
i had a pacemaker implanted a year ago for sick sinus syndrome. Before my pacemaker I did Boot camp 3 times a week and walked loads not really aware I had a heart problem.
But now a year after having a pacemaker I can't exercise anywhere near like I used to without getting short of breath. Surely I should be able to do more! Any advice welcome

As GH said, talk to them about your settings. Even if RR is already on, there are a lot of settings associated with it that can be tweaked. No two of us are alike so they start us at a good guess. We have to tell them when it's not working. If they adjust a few times and it's still not good, ask to get on a treadmill so they can watch real time what the heart does when you exert. Don't settle for not feeling your best! You should be able to do whatever you did before, if not more.

I have had mine for almost 2 years (December 1, 2015) The first year I have to say that I too struggled to get to my previous level of fitness; I ran 1/2 marathons and marathons. My times were definitely slower but in the last 6 months I find I have gradually been making progress and knocking minutes off my finishing times. The last adjustment to my PM was about a year ago but I think just the time to recover and get used to the "new" me took a little longer. I am currently training for my first full marathon since my implant and I do know that there are times I think unconsiously I am a little nervous and tend to slow myself down as well :) Electrolytes seem to be a big factor for me now, have to keep them up at all times.
All the best!

Have you had any PM Adjustments?

These devices have many settings and parameters for each individual, especially if you are active. It is common a few months after implant to need a couple of adjustments.
Most of us with SSS need the Rate Response feature turned on. It is normal for your HR to rise when moving, even just walking across the room. Rate Response will raise your HR when you are active. Check with your tech and ask if yours is on. If not, request it to be turned on and give it a few weeks....see if it makes a difference for you.
And I agree with Robin...Cardiac Rehab is wonderful!
