ICD Support While Running

I am 33 years old and back in March I went into sudden cardiac arrest. I still do not have a concrete diagnosis as why this happened to me. I was saved by CPR and and AED. Previous to my arrest, I was very active- working out 5-6 days a week. I am back running again- getting up to 2 miles a day and feeling great. The only issue is that I am very small (under 120 lbs) and the weight/movement of my debrillator can be bothersome when running. Can anyone suggest any sort of support sleeve or something to wear while running to help support my ICD?

Thank you!

super heavy duty athletic bra

If I run or do anything impact, I go for a bra that holds everything down tight because any movement at all can pull on the scar tissue. We're all built differently so you may have to shop around to find what works for you.  I like Champion because they come in regular bra sizes instead of S/M/L as well as light/moderate/heavy support so I can get the fit I want.

Have they tested to see if it's genetic? Usually nothing we did brings on electrical problems. So glad someone was nearby who knew CPR!

Thanks!

Thanks Tracey! I definitely need to shop for some better sports bras. I never had a lot to support up there in the past so just used cheap ones LOL. I am thinking about trying an under armor compression shirt as well.

My first genetic test got lost somwhere so waiting on another... hoping something will come up so I have some sort of diagnosis.

Thank you!

go shopping!

I think the shirt would be hot but maybe I'm not one to ask because I can't stand even the sleeves of a tshirt, tanks all the way for me. You shouldn't need the shirt if you have the right bra and it won't be tight where you need it to be. My daughter swears by Nike but I do better with Champion. Nike and Champion both have outlets. Target carries a lot of several nice lines. Some gym buddies who are smaller than my 36D love Lulu, not cheap! Try them on then jump up and down. If anything moves, try something else.

Agree with Tracey

I'm still new to the pacemaker world but I agree with Tracey. I have started back to crossfit with modifications as well as running and a good sports bra is improtant. I used cheapy ones before because I didn't really feel it was necessary. I bought some good ones from Victoria's Secret that also zip in the front and they are WONDERFUL!!! They are expensive (why I would have never bought them before) but after running in them, totally worth it! I also wear a compression tank for extra "peace of mind" cause I'm a little paranoid. LOL!!

I had a pacemaker when I was 11. I never once thought I wasn't a 'normal kid' nor was I ever treated differently because of it. I could do everything all my friends were doing; I just happened to have a battery attached to my heart to help it work.
