Dizziness

I have got an ICD implant model number: EDIGA DR D394DRG on 30 August 2017 at a hospital in Bangalore, India.
I have been experiencing dizziness and lightheadedness even while I am relaxing. After these episodes I got tests like Holter, ECHO and ECG which have tuned out negative. I also feel a loss of stamina and general feeling of weakness. During these episodes my BP has been normal and my heart rate is generally at 52-56 .All this symptoms are worrisome. Please advise

I'm sorry that you continue to feel unwell since you got your device. If it's any consolation, I, too, continued to feel dizzy or lightheaded for several weeks after getting my PM. The doctor kept telling me it wasn't my heart. I think it was my body adjusting to the device.

I suspect no one told you but our devices typically have settings used during the first 3 months. After 3 months, the doctor will make adjustments and hopefully you will feel more energy and just better overall

In addition, I think the low setting of your heartrate could be responsible for you not feeling well. You might ask your doctor if he/she could raise it up to 60 or 65 BPM. Do you have any idea what your typical heart rate was when you were well? My first cardiologist set my low number at 50 and I felt horrible. Before I knew I had a heart issue, my resting heart rate was usually 76-80. It gradually got slower and slower necessitating the need for a PM. After they upped my low number to 60, I felt a lot better.

You're in the right place to get answers to your questions. Keep us posted on your progress.

BTW, I have not been to Bangalore but I have been to India. What a fascinating place.

Problem solved

Dear NiceNiecey,

Thank you for your good wishes and advice. You are right , my heart rate was set at 50 and the first cardiologist stuck to this. I took a third opinion and the rate was changed to 70. This is because my earlier heart rate was always around this figure. Am feeling fine now.

Thanks once again !
