PACEMAKER IMPLANT

does a pacemaker implant lead to long term damage of heart muscle?

i ask this as my troponin levels are continuously raised; day after using the gym it was 85! normal being up to 14?

The pacer makes a very minimal signal which mimics what the heart should be doing on its own. That said, pacing can be hard on the heart long term but most of us do not see the effects of it, and the alterative (not pacing) would be far worse.

I asked my EP if exercising was causing a increase rate of remodeling and he said that I must exercise to remain healthy.

The experience of having a couple of lengths of wire fed into your heart muscle and an electronic 'box' tucked under the skin is not an insignificant event, but you will survive.
