Hello, I have an ICD for VT. I had an ablation two years ago which took care of my VT. I had a scar of unknown origin which they believed was caused by an old virus. I have been running and without meds for two years, no events! I have an ICD now as a secondary precaution. Anyways, my ventricular lead has been slowly declining in function. I just found out that they need to replace it now because it is showing more noise than usual and my ICD could shock me! It sucks because I feel great but the machine inside me is not working! It has only been in about 4 years so my doctors at Brigham feel it will go smoothly! Any idea when I can get back to running after the surgery? like 3 weeks or so? Anyone else have an extraction? and how did it go? how soon were you able to exercise after? Hope to hear from you! BIG BUMMER! But happy my heart is ok! just the machine inside me is NOT! :(

I wouldn't be alive if it wasn't for pacemakers. I've had mine for 35+ years. I was fainting all of the time and had flat-lined also. I feel very blessed to live in this time of technology.

Have they discussed adding a new lead and capping off the bad one rather than extracting? Would be an easier surgery.
New leads have the same restrictions as the original placement, 6 weeks.
