I got pacemaker implanted after couple fainting with loop recorder showing 27 second flatland. This was a year ago. I still get dizzy during an exercise even after 10 minutes if I exceed approximately 120 heart rate. My cardiologist doesn't know why. I had this problem before pacemaker implantation but very sporadically and to much lower intensity. I have attributed it ti first degree AV block but it did not bother me as much as it does now. I was athletic doing half ironme no and half marathons. Now I get dizzy whenever I start running or even fast dancing. Anyone else has this issue?

upper limit

Is your upper limit 120? Because if it is, right there is your problem. With av block, the atria beats normally but the ventricles don't get the signal. The pacer watches. Every time the atria beats, it gives the ventricles a fraction of a second to keep up. If not, it kicks in with pacing so the heart stays in sync. However, it can only go as high as the upper limit. So if it's set at 120, and your atrial rate gets over that, your heart rate will max out at 120 and it will kill a workout quickly. If you are not in block, the heart can go as fast as it wants on its own and the pacer will only watch. It's a gas pedal not a brake pedal.
If that's what's going on, it's as easy as raising the upper limit. If there's more to it than that, my doc has had good luck watching me on a treadmill and watching what happens when I exert, then adjust the settings accordingly.

Thanks for your input. I actually have high pressure and I am taking ACE blockers. But true, blood pressure seems to affect my dizziness as after both Coversyl or coffee I feel dizzy. I also sweat a lot when getting dizzy. My upper setting is 150 so I don't reach it. I am aware that Vertigo might be caused by other factors but my Ear & Nose doctor can't find the cause.

I had a pacemaker when I was 11. I never once thought I wasn't a 'normal kid' nor was I ever treated differently because of it. I could do everything all my friends were doing; I just happened to have a battery attached to my heart to help it work.

Hi
Have you checked blood pressure? I've had similar episodes recently and had a Tilt test done. They've discovered it's very low blood pressure, vasovagal syncope.
Hope this helps!
