Pacemaker

I got a pacemaker on 12-27-17 and I keep feeling the strong pulses on my right side under the pacemaker.  Sometimes they are in my stomach also.  Has anyone else experienced them?

I had a pacemaker put in December 21, 2017.  I’m not sure about the pulses.  Do you mean like electrical pulses or heart beating pulses?. I feel sometimes mine in my upper abdomen mine was placed on the left side.  I would call your doctor and see if it’s normal. Linda

Thank you for your comment.  My pacemaker is also on my right side.  It is hard to explain.  It is like a hard thumping of your heart but it is not the heart because it is on the right side and sometimes at the top of the right side of the stomach. It may be electrical pulses. my whole chest shakes when I have them.  I called the dr once and they said it was pulses.  It does not seem normal for them to be so strong. I have an appointment with my cardiologist tomorrow.

I felt something similar just after getting my pacer 5 years ago. The tech nurse had to turn the voltage down and then it was fine. Sometimes the fine tuning takes time.

You may be having  diaphragmatic pacing. Need to decrease the voltage.

Check with your cardiologist.

Pulsating sensation

I just had my PM installed on 01-19-2018.  The next day, on numerous occasions, I felt "something" near the left side of my sternum/ ribcage  ( PM is on the left side) which felt like a very strong beat - which previously  when in afib or atypical  flutter, I could never tell, so this sensation has been quite noticeable.  Happens sometimes with activity and sometimes when sitting quietly.  Over the past two days the frequency has decreased, and the duration is shorter. I have my first "wound check" on Friday so will be discussing it with NP.  In the meantime, it is nice to know others have experienced something similar.

Thanks for all the helpful information !

Yes- decrease the voltage

After my replacement I experienced a similar strong pulsing but it was insynch with my heartbeat. Mine is on the left.  I went back to PM clinic and they reduced voltage which fixed my problem.  Good luck!

It may be the first time we've felt a normal heart rhythm in a long time, so of course it seems too fast and too strong.
