First off, thank you to everyone in the club who assured me that time helps heal most things associated with having a PM.
It has been 65 days since I got my PM, and yesterday was the first time in 3 months since I last joined my golfing buddies on the course. As someone who has played for over 40 years, I was initially very concerned that my golfing days, at least my good golfing days, were over. Not true!
Granted, I continue to feel little aches, pains, and other sensations that I never felt pre-PM, but these pale in comparison to the horror that I lived with not knowing when the world would go dark on me again. I live with optimism that the aches and pains will only be less of a burden to me in the weeks and months ahead.
How good was it on the course yesterday? Three over par was good enough to beat my buddies, and they've been playing the last three months!
Hang in there, newbies, the best days are yet to come.

I'm scheduled to get a PM soon. I am a competitive golfer and wanting to qualify for an Open next year. I was wondering where you had your PM installed or would recommend having one so as not to interfere with your swing? My doctor recommended 6 weeks before resuming my golf activities but I see you waited 3 months, what were you told and when did you feel ready? 3 over par is excellent for not having golfed in 3 months, so kudos for that. I am still trying to wrap my head around this as I have been an athlete and soldier most of my adult life but from reading on this site; it seems most everyone has similar reactions. Honestly, I just care about not passing out or being short of breath on a golf course. I can't even remember how it felt to have plenty of energy to play and compete. I just want to be sure I get it placed in the right spot because I dont want to have to change my golf swing. Again, congrats on your first round post PM and any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Curious,
My pm is on my left side upper chest a couple inches below my collarbone. I waited a couple months before I started swinging a club. I was overly cautious, I think. Anyway, it wasn’t worth rushing it, in my opinion. I felt I was ready when I could swing with no pain or pinching from the pm. My swing was always arm predominant, without a lot of body turn. I found that as a result of the pm, I turned my upper body more in my backswing than before the pm, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing.
Feel free to ask ask more questions is you you want.
Good luck!
