Starting cardiac rehab tomorrow and wanted could someone comment on their progress post PM implant and starting exercise routines.

Not having had a heart attack or heart surgery, I didn't meet the qualifications for cardiac rehab, so I had to insist my doctor refer me, and pay out of pocket. Still it was worth it.
It was the best thing I've done for my physical health and mental and emotional acceptance of the pacemaker. In cardiac rehab you willl not only learn to trust your ability to exericise, you will encounter others in the same boat as you. Just being around them will offer perspective about your own condition. You'll also receive emotional support from people who understand what you're going through.
Lastly, I found it to be a lot of fun. We had a great group that enjoyed laughing and joking, sometimes singing--anything to keep th exercises from getting boring.

Cardiac rehab is wonderful. It is controlled, monitored excersize, in a safe environment. The purpose is to build stamina, while developing a comfort level of what you can and cannot do. As we all had a lot in common, it became more of a social gathering, while we worked out.
Cardiac rehab saved my life; twice. After angioplasty and 2 stents, I was referred to rehab for 36 sessions. About halfway through, I started having arrhythmia issues which preceded cardiac arrest. My pacer was implanted and I was able to resume the sessions. Towards the end of my sessions, I started experiencing runs of VT and SVT. Long story short, I Was able to get the necessary treatment and once again continue on with my rehab. Im finishing up my 2nd 36 session rehab stint and feel great. At 70 years old, I complete 60 to 90 min of cardio, a minimum of 3 times a week. The bottom line is that I feel confident that I can live a normal life, with little restriction.

I start the same on Friday this week, they said the first day was just paperwork, Q & A and some familiarization of what the process is going to be. I think they want to see what kind of shape we are in and see how we are feeling before they ask us to engage in the next level.
Understandably so.
