I’m new to this club and am really glad I found it. I was implanted with a pace maker 5/3/18 so I’m just about 6 weeks out. My leads and heart got infected so I’m still on antibiotics. My issue is still whenever I climb the stairs my heart races and I feel dizzy. Before I wouldn’t make it to the top of the stairs before I’d get dizzy. Say step 10. Then it was 12 and then a couple of steps after I was up the stairs. Does this ever get better? I’m going back to teaching soon and I will have to climb stairs with students. I can’t talk during the episode until I catch my breath. Not sure how I’m going to do it with my grade 8 s yet. Has this happened to anyone else?

Walking a lot

Thank you for answering so quickly. I am an avid walker ranging from 3-5km daily depending upon time. My hr is 115 at the top of the stairs. I’m frustrated about not being able to walk around the block. Maybe it’s still early but my dr told me I should be able to return to my regular exercises the following week. So now that I’m beginning wk 6 and am 50 years old I thought I would be able to recover faster. Maybe the 2 operations in 4 days ?

I’ve been adjusted twice and am going again today. Forgot to mention that in the above note.

I'm 44, active and have had my device for two years. I love it as I can run again and enjoy working out without feeling like I'm an old man.

Call the doctor. Your pacemaker may need adjustment. This is usually done on your follow-up appointments after they see your read-outs.
