Palpitations

Whenever I drive my car (a Honda Fit), I get heart palpitations. Medtronic can't tell me why. Anyone else experience this?

It's not your car...

It sounds like your rate response is set too aggressively. I had the same experience with my Medtronic in several cars. It also happened in a gliding type rocking chair (my favorite). I had my first tune up recently and the tech tweaked the rate response settings and viola... no more palps in cars or my chair.

It always amazes me when techinitions don't recognize symtoms that we at pacemaker club see rather frequently.

In order to know when to speed up so that your heart can go fast enough when you exert yourself, the pacemaker senses vibration. It is mistaking vibration coming from your car with vibration that means you are walking faster.

OldGrump is right. a few tweaks of your settings should make riding in your car more comfortable.

I have had my pacer since 2005. At first it ruled my life. It took some time to calm down and make the mental adjustment. I had trouble sleeping and I worried a lot about pulling wires. Now I just live my life as I wish.
