I had a ICD implanted 4 weeks ago now and I have felt 10x worse since the surgery, I'm a 25 year old Male, very fit and active before implant and now I can barely get out of bed longer then half hour.

I constantly have an odd feeling around the heart, it's hard to explain. Dizziness is more frequent then before.

I thought it was normal to start with but it seems to get worse as time goes on,

Has anyone been through the same thing, is there something wrong with the ICD, I dont know what to do anymore..

Have you been back to the doctor? Nothing you are describing is normal.

Settings

You probably need a setting adjustment or two.  When they implant these devices, the voltage is set high to allow your heart to get used to being paced and for the leads to embed.  After a few months, most of us need adjustments to the device, especially if you are active.  There are so many settings and parameters to these little computers.

They shouldn't change more than 2 settings at a time, this way, if those settings are not correct for you....they can change them back and try a different setting.  It can take more than one adjustment to get it tweaked right for you.  Don't be discouraged if you find you have to go back more than once....it's very common.  We are all different and need different settings for our hearts.  Most of us need an adjustment or two over time, sometimes even after a few years as our heart can change.

I would start there with your doctor...it's the easiest fix.

Recovery Time

Very important that you see your PM doctor. NOW

People recover at different speeds however if you're   an athlete you should feel better. ELite athletes need the vigor of work outs to feel normal and the heart is conditioned to work outs. Try walking or use a the tred mill,  light exercise and check your BP etc.

Hope this helps.
