Stupid dog!!!!

Hi all, 4+ years and no problems, happy with my little friend, doing his job on the background. That was until last Wednesday when I walked my dog, she took off after a rabbit, I gave chase and ran plumb into a tree branch, right on   the suture site. ( I have a very wide scar,) small laceration a few millimetres and a bit of twig stuck in it. Pulled it out and cracked on, didn’t think anything of it, had tears in the scar before and they always healed no dramas. Well, I am an ED advanced practitioner so should have known better!!!.

Felt lethargic and flu like symptoms for a few days, with a little erythema, just brushed it off. All day yesterday temp 37.5-9 and felt rotten. Woke up at  0300 and full blown sepsis, temp 39c with rigors hr 125, high lactate, high WCC, painful swollen pm site with erythema and collection of fluid ( seen on ultrasound) . After 6hours I’m ED, now Stuck in CCU, waiting for an echo to hopefully rule out endocarditis, otherwise, it’s a box and lead extraction for me. Winner

really? You ran headon into a tree and the dog is stupid...

You do know here in the states the acronyms you used may have a totally different meaning. I'm sitting here wondering what an Erectile Dysfunction Advanced Practioner does.

having been there I can assure you an extraction and all that goes with healing the site infection is not a pleasant experience. Hope you get off easy. Good luck

Ok should read stupid tree๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

Fair one, running into a tree, was completely the trees fault ( or mine, but I’ll never admit to it๐Ÿ‘) it gave the cardiology and ED (Emergency Department) team a good laugh though. On some pretty heavy doses of vancomycin, for a few days, prior to the final decision on extraction.

Thanks all for your kind wishes

oh and the erectile dysfunction practitioner is hilarious, really brightened my day, thanks

You know you're wired when...

You run like the bionic man.
