Hi all!
I saw a lot of posts about this topic before, but most of them are from a long time ago. So i tought, let's give it a shot!
I'm Bryan and i'm 22 years old. In february I got very ill and I needed an open heart surgery, on top of that i received a pacemaker. So since 8 weeks i've got the pacemaker and I want to go back to the gym. Before i got ill i always went to the gym and did everything that i want. But all the people i've spoken with tell me different things about working out. What do you guys think about lifting weights with a pacemaker? Or does someone have a special trainingschedule? Are there excercises that you guys skip?
Thank you all,
Bryan

Doctors vary a lot in what they recommend. Some doctors caution against too much overhead or using the pull up bar, but mine said don't worry about it. I modified at first but now pretty much do what I want. If something doesn't feel right, back off and try again in a week or go lighter. It took me about 3 months after my last surgery before I was back to my old routine without modifications.
That said, I haven't had open heart surgery and my doctor hasn't given me any restrictions. What did your doctor tell you? Sounds like you've been through a lot more than just getting the pacemaker. It's going to take some time to fully heal and get back to the activity level you had before you got sick.
