The various Dyson vacum cleaners seem to have magnets in their motor. I am trying to find out if
their magnetic fieisld presents a risk to PM? Anyone have any experience or information on that topic? Thanks

While my PM did get me out of mowing the lawn, yours isn't going to get you out of vacuuming. ;-)
6"

Rule of thumb for anything questionable is keep it 6" from the device so unless it's one that is carried like a backpack, it won't cause any problems.
However, if you think your family will fall for it and believe you can't vacuum, it's worth a try! ;oP

Just my opinion but I don't think you should use a Dyson vacuum cleaner...they are far too expensive and don't really perform any better than other cheaper brands. As for the magnetic field that's not an issue, it's far too weak

Actually, I do like Dysons! They are popular for good reasons.
The problem with Dysons is that the motor is high up. If like me you keep the vacuum cleaner on whilst doing stairs, you can end up carry the vac. and if you are not careful have it near to your PM. Beware! You are unlikely to do any permanent harm, and certainly keeping 6 inches away from the motor would be reasonable given the electromagnetism involved.

Magnet field

I dont think the magnet field is strong enough quite frankly, no excuses for me tho i have to do the hoovering regardless, the magnet if it did pose a risk would have to be right over the pacemaker.
I do metal detecting, and the magnetic field is stronger with one of them, but again i do not put the disc over the top of the pm.
Hope this helps your query..
