ICD extreme tenderness & pain
I am 45 years old. I have had Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy since birth but, was not diagnosed until I was 13 yrs old. Been on meds since then. I got an ICD on Jan 23, 2018 & am experiencing EXTREME tenderness, pain in area & below of ICD. Can not barely touch it without pain & I get tingling & pain there. It is extremely bulged out. Is this normal to be hurting there still after 4 months?? I am so sick & tired of it. I also have fibromyalgia & hurt all over my body, never, ever feel good & never any energy!! I am sick of living this way!!

At the risk of asking the obvious, have you been back to your surgeron? The chance of infection has to be taken seriously, no matter when it arises.
Even in the absence of infection, it can take a long time for the swelling to go down. I didn't realize how much swelling I had had, until about a year when it finally went away completely.
If there's no infection, after four months you should be completely healed, and except for occasional twinges from scar tissue, or difficulty lying in certain positions, the pain should be gone. Given your history of fibromyalgia, consultation with a pain specialist might be in order.

My eight year old son had a pacemaker since he was 6 months old. He does very well, plays soccer, baseball, and rides his bike. I am so glad he is not ashamed of his pacemaker. He will proudly show his "battery" to anyone.

I'm sorry you are feeling so bad. Was it ok and now it hurts, or has it hurt all along? If it's new, it needs to be seen asap to evaluate for infection. If it's hurt all along I'd talk to your fibromyalgia doctor and see if they have any suggestions.
