Heart rate not compensating for physical activity

When I exercise I can not get my heart rate to go higher than 101-105. I know it should be higher than that. I then feel shortness of breath with my oxygen level going down. Also my heart actually feels like it is going much much faster.

I tried to ride a stationary bike and was going 20mph after 10 minutes hr was 105

Last week I had to climb 4 flights of stairs. Heart rate 101 afterwards.

Can anything be done for this. I’m not on any beta blockers or anything that would lower my hr.

The pacer can be set to give you a boost when you exercise so talk to your doctor about your settings. However, many of them go by motion to detect activity so they aren't always much help with a bike because the chest doesn't move.

Combination of settings

A talk about settings with you cardio/EP is definitely in order. Do you know what your upper and lower settings are? I was feeling like I was about to die when climbing stairs, only to discover that some tech, thinking I was a sedentary Little Old Lady, at some point had lowered my upper heart rate to 90!

Later when I found I got too SOB too soon when dancing, the EP made my rate response more sensitive. Of course, now my heart rate can jump to near 90 when I reach for a tissue, but to me the tradeoff is worth it.

The right settings can make a big difference in how we feel. But sometimes it takes several tries to get the best combination.

Upper limit on pacemaker

Woohoo!  It's not just me!  My upper limit is set to 80!!! Consequence is I can do stuff but I get extremely exhausted afterwards, i'm assuming because I'm not getting enough oxygen to my muscles, such as are left.  I’m 8 months out from transplant and certainly less tired than I was.  GP reckons they won’t up that top limit but it’s driving me crazy.  I'm now worrying (my major sport)  they’re not telling me something.  I saw my first echo a couple of months ago and I get why they didn’t show me.  Big balloon with very little movement).  I was at 12% EF.  in five months I was over 60%.  Never grateful 😊 I want to kayak and ride my bike and swim.  Not patient either as I have kidney failure and inactivity isn’t helping that.  I am grateful.   Had no idea anything was wrong until suddenly it wasn’t at all right.
