Strange twitching in muscle near pacemaker

Hello all!

So I've recently started experiencing a weird twitching in a muscle near my pacemaker/defibrillator. It feels like an eye twitch on a larger scale and I can actually see it moving. I have never experienced anything like this before and I've had my pacemaker for almost fifteen years (device replacement about 6 years ago). The device was implanted as a precaution and has never actually paced me. After experiencing this for a couple of days I sent my heart doctor a transmission from home and they reviewed it and said nothing looked out of the ordinary and that there had been no events or pacing. But I am still experiencing the issue pretty consistently. It's not painful, but it's quite uncomfortable and I'm just wondering if it could be a sign of something wrong?

Would appreciate any opinions!

Thanks!

The first few days after mine was implanted I was getting spasm similar to what you describe on my left shoulder, under the clavicle and in my neck.  It wasn't painful but, as you say, it wasn't pleasant either.  It only lasted a few days, though, and everything settled down.

However, you said your pacemaker isn't pacing so I don't see how your pacemaker could be causing the problem.  Maybe you pinched a nerve in your neck?

I had the same problem. Turned out to be a pulse from a pacer lead pulsing and causing the muscle to twitch. The pacemaker tech simply routed the pacing to a different path in the lead and it stopped. Next time you have a pacer check ask them to test the leads and see if they can get you to twitch and reroute.

You know you're wired when...

Your pacemaker receives radio frequencies.
