Live in Southern NJ. I have had three pacemaker lead perforations and revisions. Have seen Mds in Philadelphia, Camden and Dr Chung at Cleveland Clinic. I believe I am perforated again. Any recommendations of an EP doc that can figure out what is baffling all that have seen me. Willing to travel. Thanks for any advice.

I had lead extraction last year at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland. Dr. Buce Wilkoff preformed the procedure. With lead extraction there's nobody better. If I were you I would get in contact with Dr. Wilkoff.

Kim: How did this turn out for you since this post is old? I had surgery for perforation last week. They were afraid to remove lead entirely so just pulled it back into position where it's still in the heart, just not perforating it. Having chest pain still which is worse when using my left arm. Maybe it will get better since I'm only a week out from surgery. Dr is afraid to remove it entirely and says it's safest to leave it as is. Might need someone who's the best at this kind of complication. Any ideas?

I am 100% pacemaker dependant and have been all my life. I try not to think about how a little metal box keeps me alive - it would drive me crazy. So I lead a very active life.
This is a new one...

I assume from your bio that you've had this pacemaker and leads for several years. From what I gather, lead perforations after a month are quite rare. I little research hints that the place they leads were attached may be the site of a previous MI. Do you have a history of heart attacks?
I would agree that you need the best of the best. I would have expected that from the Cleveland Clinic but there are surely several EPs with varying skills, even at CC. You might research one of the large hospitals in NYC or Boston.
I'm sorry I can't help more but good luck! Please keep in touch and let us know how this comes out.
