After ICD Implanted- Restrictions

I just had my ICD implanted. The Nurse said that I cannot lift more than 5 pounds with either arm for 4 weeks.

Makes no sense to me why I have restrictions on the amount I lift with my right arm. I understand why there is a restiction for my left sude where I had the procdure done.

Has everyone else had a restriction on the non-impant arm regarding maximum weights?

It's the strain in general, not side specific.  Let your body heal.

Yes.  I was told not to lift more than ten pounds for six weeks.  I was also banned from the gym, where I just use a treadmill, but was allowed to walk as much as I wanted.  I thought some of it strange but it was a pretty specific set of restrictions, so went with the program.

No lifting for 2 weeks...

I was told nothing heavier than a gallon of milk (with either arm) for 2 weeks, and no driving for 2 weeks.  After that slowly begin light exercise, still no weights for 6 weeks.  After that all is fair game.   You don't want to push, pull, stretch or do anything that might pull the leads out for the first few weeks.  Take the time to heal and the rest of the recovery will go smoother!

Good luck!
