Hi friends, i had my pacemaker implanted in 2004, is medtronic in DDDR mode. I had been well with it , my cardiologist told me i would soon need a battery replacement. Any suggestion which i should go for...I am soon 54 years old.

Mine was set for DDD mode. You've done well. I had mine replaced in 2010.

They replaced mine with an Adapta ADDRL1 which is about the same as the Kappa that was removed. The nice thing is that it has the same settings. I made sure they just transferred the settings as mine was working great. I was assured they would, but a couple of settings were changed by the computer. The best way to handle it is to have them give you a copy of the latest interrogation on the old one and also a copy of the new one's settings. Then compare them and insist on matching them.

The replacement was a piece of cake. In fact I had it done with only a pain shot at the incision.

Hi I think i have the same pacemaker as you. I had mine put in in 2003. I am now at end of life and waiting for new health insurance plan which I hope pays for the procedure. One of my leads is not pacing anymore as my heartrate was 35 last night and my low pacing rate is 55. I have asked electric frank questions before and he has given me good advice. Hope you get your new pacer soon and i hope mine will be soon also. The cardiologist did tell me the new ones are smaller and may not last as long also. best of luck. keep us posted.

I'm not sure you get to "choose" your brand. Maybe you will get to, but I've found most of the docs just put in whichever they think is the best for you at the time.
