Hello groovey people in Pacemaker world. Im 49 yrs old and about to get a Pacemaker implant for the first time. Im still getting my head around this new world. But thanks to you and some research Im feeling more comfortable and positive about the future.
My question is what to do about MRIs? I have some other issues like Radial, Cubital and Carprel Tunnel. And seem to be an MRI addict as I get them nearly every year. What do I do now with a pacemaker? Is there a certain type that will go thru the MRI or is that it, Im now limited to Xray and Ultrasounds?
Thank you. xx

My pacemaker is over six years old. Is it still safe to get an MRI? Thanks.

6 yr old pacemaker: best to look up the model on the manufacturer's website or ask a rep.
recent pacemakers: I know my St. Jude's ICD is MRI compatible under specific conditions and magnetic field strengths.
You know you're wired when...
Your pacemaker interferes with your electronic scale.

It is just over 10 years since a dual lead device was implanted for complete heart block. It has worked perfectly and I have traveled well near two million miles internationally since then.
Nope, no special pacemaker

They're all MRI safe, now. The only warning I was given was to go to a hospital and avoid "MRI In a Box" sorts of places. Hospitals will know exactly what to do and have someone to check out your pacemaker, if needed.
