Surgery 1 done

Hi all this is me Tammy. I wanted to thank each of you so far for the thoughts and prayers. They have meant so much to me. I feel horrible but am not complaining too much. I am taking ever drug that I can but not too much to keep my heart beating for a couple days until pm 3 can be placed.
Surgery today went well my leads came out easier than planned and so did the pacer. The infection was resting on the inside stitches which really confuses me b/c they couldn't have been sanitary going in.
I am getting the new wireless addict from St. Jude I won that debate with my Dr. and it was the first time he had ever been questioned I did my research and called both companies and sat down for a hour talking to him him prior to going in.
I am so blessed that I have more energy than expected but not too much. I keep taking short naps here and there and have found that to be just fine. Please continue to pray b/c it is horrible not having a pacer and not having a SA Node thank God for those extra areas that helps us out.
They do have the paddles right out side my door if I code. That also makes me feel better.

Have a lovely week and continue to pray.

Tammy

So glad

I'm so glad that you're doing well. Ya know, I don't know if you know this or not, but I'm just recovering from a pacemaker infection myself. My new pacer that I received in September was a lot bigger than the single chamber that I had. Just last month, what I thought was a scrape over my incision turned out to be my pacemaker trying to erode through my skin. The incision area got superficially infected but thankfully it had not progressed to the pocket, leads, and pacemaker. My doctor gave me a huge scolding for not telling him about "the scrape" sooner than I did.
I was in the hospital for 6 days getting IV antibiotics while they waited for blood cultures results which would be the bearer of my fate and whether or not they needed to do what you're having done. Bless your heart, what they threatened and explained to me over and over is actually happening to you.
I was dc'd out of the hospital on IV antibiotics that I gave myself through a central line that they placed in my right internal jugular neck vein. I lived this freakish lifestyle for 17 days until the infection cleared. My EP just moved my pacer under my muscle last week so hopefully this won't ever happen to me again.

I'll be thinking about you, and I hope that you continue to do well in this process. It's long and agonizing...I know that for sure and mine wasn't even to the extent of yours. You have my sympathies.

Keeping you in my prayers

It sounds like you're in good hands and the "paddles" are right where they need to be. I pray that you won't be afraid and take some comfort in knowing that we all are praying for you. Rest as much as possible. I love you and your sweet spirit. Lenora

I am just thankful that I am alive and that even though I have this pacemaker it is not the end of the world.
